Declaration of equivalent value

Who has to submit the declaration of equivalent value

If you have obtained a foreign qualification, you need to submit a document proving that you have access to university (and, specifically, to equivalent courses to the one you are applying for) in the country in which you have obtained such qualification.

For that reason you must:

  • apply for the “dichiarazione di valore” (declaration of equivalent value) at the Italian consulate or embassy abroad (the declaration must be applied for as soon as possible since it can often require long processing times)
  • upload the declaration in the application portal upon enrolment at the very latest
  • submit the original of the declaration of equivalent value to the Student Secretariat at the beginning of the academic year.

Most of the times the Italian diplomatic authority requires an official translation into Italian of the applicant’s qualification (it is also possible to ask the consulate or embassy directly for a list of certified translators).
