Language Advising

Language Advising is provided by language teachers with expertise in language learning support. Sessions are tailored to meeting learners’ individual needs.

The Language Center provides language advising free of charge to the whole unibz community. 

We offer support in the following areas:

  • Becoming an independent learner of English, German and Italian
  • Improving your language-learning strategies
  • Defining clear and achievable learning goals.

Language Advising is not construed to make up for missed classes, nor as a private individual lesson or a way to prepare for an exam.

Types of Language Advising support

Brief appointments

If you have difficulty learning languages, we encourage you to make a brief appointment with a Language Center advisor to review language learning resources and your learning approach. Your advisor will provide you with valuable information on developing learning strategies to improve your course participation and exam performance. Based on availability, appointments may also be arranged on the Brixen campus.

Standard learning advising

This mode requires your availability, commitment and active participation in a series of sessions. Participants will be required to:

  • Record their learning activities and progress in a logbook
  • Participate in a series of advising sessions to evaluate the attainment of the goals set forth in your individual learning plan.

Tandem® offers you a great opportunity to practice two languages with a learning partner. Learning partners actively and creatively support one another while learning together.

For obvious reasons, participants should have an A1-A2 knowledge of their Tandem® languages and be ready to engage in dynamic conversations.

unibz has a digital Tandem partner finding service exclusively accessible to the university students and internal staff and provides materials to structure their own Tandem.
