On May 13, released the third edition of its annual report on the best scientists in the field of microbiology. A standout result for Prof. Gobbetti.

Prof. Marco Gobbetti (Faculty of Agricultural, Environmental and Food Sciences) has secured first place among the top microbiology scientists in Italy and the 194th place globally (with a D-Index of 107, 33,511 Citations and 410 Publications). The primary objective of the ranking is “to raise awareness and appreciation within the academic community for the substantial research accomplishments of the leading researchers and scientists in microbiology”. The 2024 edition, published on the website, highlights Prof. Gobbetti’s significant contributions to the discipline.

The third edition of the ranking was created using consolidated data from various sources, including OpenAlex and CrossRef. The bibliometric data used to devise the citation-based metrics were gathered on November 21, 2023. A researcher's position in the ranking is based on their D-index (Discipline H-index), which considers only publications and citation metrics relevant to the examined discipline.
