The Language Centre plays an important role within unibz because of the university’s trilingual approach to teaching, learning and research.
We strive to accomplish the language strategy set forth for our university. Our main goal is to coordinate and expand the whole spectrum of language acquisition opportunities and provide excellent language learning conditions to both students, administrative and academic staff.
We offer a variety of services, including the organization and implementation of modular language courses and advising on all aspects of language learning. In order to promote the use of languages outside the formal language classroom, our additional language activities include laboratories, workshops, and events which aim to enrich language learning across contexts.
Moreover, we design and administer tests and exams to determine language skills before admission and during the study career. Besides courses in the official teaching languages German, Italian and English, we also offer other language courses in Arabic, Chinese, French, Ladin, Russian and Spanish.
Our Language Centre staff includes, besides the director, an administration office (4 people); our teaching and coordinating staff, who are in charge of teaching, coordinating and planning language courses (5 people); and staff who manage language testing and certification (2 people). Language teaching is provided by a team of about 80 sessional language teachers.
