The inter-library loan and document delivery services allow users to request books and copies of articles that do not make up part of the University Library’s collection or can be found anywhere else in South Tyrol.

How to fill in the online form:

1. Login
2. Indicate whether it is a book or a copy of an article and the relative details of the same.
3. Choose the library that you would like to collect the document from.
4. Send the request.

Important: the information that is marked with an asterisk is obligatory. Orders with missing or incorrect information cannot be dealt with.

Delivery

Requests are normally dealt with the following working day and sent to the library that has the book/article. Once this has been done, the University Library has no control over how long it will take to receive the book/article.

Normally, copies of articles arrive within a few days, while for books the time can vary from 10 to 20 days.

Once the material has been received by the Library, the user is sent an email. The documents can then be picked up during the Library's regular opening hours at the Information Desk.

Important:

• Sometimes the material that has been ordered can only be consulted on the Library's premises.

• Only after 3 months a library user can order the same title again.

Loan period

Normally books requested through the inter-library loan system can be taken away for three weeks.

Please note that: 

• The period is established by the library that supplies the book.
• Books taken out through the inter-library loan system cannot be renewed as the books have to be sent back to their original library on time.
• Books can only be returned to the University Library in Bolzano/Bozen, Bressanone/Brixen and Brunico/Bruneck.
• Copies of articles can be kept by the user.

The fees for these services can be found in the University Library charges regulations.

Items that cannot be borrowed through the Interlibrary Loan & Document Delivery system

• Books or other material that are part of the collection of the Scientific Library South Tyrol and which are not available (e.g. borrowed or on order) at the time of the request.
• Books or other material owned by other libraries in South Tyrol (e.g. Tessmann library, public libraries)
• Items that are currently available via various book shops and that have a price of less than 10 Euro.
• Novels or popular scientific texts
• Reference works
• Rare or precious items as well as items published before 1900.
• Items that are in a delicate state.
• Bound magazines or newspapers
• Loose-leaf publications
• DVDs, CD-ROMs, floppy disks, audio and videocassettes

The Interlibrary Loans & Document Delivery service can be used by any library that is located outside the province of South Tyrol.

Italian libraries

Our library belongs to NILDE and ESSPER. 

Requests for Document Delivery should be made through NILDE, in order to maintain the reciprocal nature of the service. The service is free for institutions that have signed an agreement or other contract with the Library System of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano and for libraries that belong to NILDE.   

Requests from libraries that do not belong to the NILDE network and requests for inter-library loans can be sent to: illdd@unibz.it.
