The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano has recently created a excellence centre to valorise the expertise and research carried out by unibz on the topic of cooperation, which is historically a cornerstone of the economic and social development of the Autonomous Province of Bozen-Bolzano. The Competence Centre aims to promote research and innovation in the context of the cooperative system of this territory, in order to address the transformations that the new social, ecological and economic challenges pose.

The Competence Centre, financed by the Office for Cooperation of the Autonomous Province of Bozen-Bolzano, works in concert with South Tyrolean institutions that work for the development of the cooperative system, such as the South Tyrolean cooperative associations AGCI Alto Adige, Coopbund Alto Adige Südtirol, Cooperazione Autonoma Dolomiti, Raiffeisenverband Südtirol, as well as with national and international research institutes, in a multidisciplinary perspective on the phenomena under study.
