In 2024, ahead of the harmonisation of requirements for the issuance of multiple voting shares at the EU level, Germany has amended its Stock Corporation Act and reintroduced dual class share structures (which had been banned since 2003). This step has been motivated by the desire to promote incorporations and listings in Germany among the founders of innovative enterprises.
